There are 60 marks for reading based questions and 40 marks for writing questions. Under reading, there are 5 marks for MCQ questions where you have to guess the meaning from context and 10 marks for comprehension questions. The comprehension questions are open-ended and relate to analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. 10 marks are reserved for information transfer or flowchart questions and 10 for summarizing questions. The writing section will require you to complete many different types of questions. There are 10 marks for writing paragraphs answering questions and 7 marks for completing a story. The letter writing question is for 5 marks. You’ll have the option to choose between writing an informal letter or an email. 10 marks are for a question where you have to analyze a graph, map or chart. Finally, the last question, for 8 marks, will require you to read a given short story or poem and appreciate it. You will have to write about its subject matter, its identifying theme and its interpretation.
